Our Pedagogical Approach

MLS Islamic Studies grows with your students, from engaging narratives in elementary grades to advanced scholarly analysis in high school.

Elementary (K-5)

Grandpa Siddiqui Narrative Method

Students learn fundamental Islamic concepts through engaging stories featuring Grandpa Siddiqui as a beloved guide. This narrative approach makes abstract concepts memorable and relatable, building a strong foundation of faith, character, and Islamic identity.

Middle School (6-8)

Transition to Dadi Bia & Deeper Analysis

The narrative evolves as students mature. Dadi Bia becomes the narrator, introducing more sophisticated theological concepts and encouraging students to ask critical questions. This transition supports the cognitive development of middle schoolers while maintaining engagement and narrative continuity.

High School (9-12)

Advanced Theological Analysis & Scholarship

High school students engage with advanced Islamic thought, comparative theology, scholarly debates, and real-world applications. Capstone projects encourage original research and critical synthesis. Students become scholars themselves, exploring the depth and intellectual richness of Islamic tradition.

Scope & Sequence

Every grade covers six interconnected domains of Islamic knowledge, deepening in sophistication as students progress through the curriculum.

Aqeedah

Foundations of Islamic belief, the six articles of faith, and theological concepts. Early grades introduce core beliefs; advanced grades explore comparative theology and scholarly interpretations.

Seerah

The life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him). Elementary students learn engaging stories of the Prophet; older students conduct textual analysis and examine historical sources.

Quran

Memorization, recitation, and tafsir (interpretation). Younger grades focus on juz' memorization and basic meanings; older students study classical tafsir, textual analysis, and Quranic themes.

Hadith

Prophetic traditions and their application. Early grades learn key hadith about character; advanced students study hadith sciences, authenticity classification, and jurisprudential applications.

Fiqh

Islamic jurisprudence and practical rulings. Foundations in elementary (basic practices); schools of law and comparative fiqh in high school with real-world ethical applications.

Akhlaq

Islamic character and ethics. Character development through stories in elementary; philosophical ethics and worldview development in high school, including interfaith dialogue.
