Shariah in Context
In Grade 10, students engage with Islamic legal methodology at an advanced level, studying usul al-fiqh (foundations of jurisprudence) and maqasid al-shariah (objectives of Islamic law). Students examine how Muslim scholars derive legal rulings and understand the underlying principles that guide Islamic jurisprudence across diverse contexts and societies.
Grade 10 students develop the intellectual tools to engage contemporary Islamic legal questions critically. They explore how maqasid—the preservation of faith, intellect, life, property, and family—guide Islamic responses to modern challenges. Students learn to appreciate the flexibility and contextual nature of Islamic law while maintaining its fundamental ethical principles.
